In our fast moving, self-centered, hedonistic society, many perhaps feels that they can only “spare” God a very few minutes of their “busy” day. How thoughtful! I am sure the Great Creator of heaven and earth must be so impressed. But how is He impressed? Are we truly learning to know the true sense of worship and serving Him? What are we learning through this “fast-food” kind of religion? In reality are we genuinely pleasing God?
It is vital that we need to know the real God, and you will not know Him if you do not worship Him, pray to Him in the way He has taught us to do. Jesus told a Samaritan woman- a woman of another religion: ” You people worship what you do not know. We worship what we know, because salvation is from the Jews. But a time is coming – and now is here – when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such people to be his worshipers. God is spirit, and the people who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” -John 4:22-24
When Jesus said,” Your word is Truth” (Jn.17:17); the key to all these questions of how and where to pray are all in th clear teachings and examples found in the Bible. For instance, Though it is not wrong to pray with others or utter a quickie prayer in some emergency – but these are not recommended as a normal practice of a prayer for a genuine Christian so to speak, right? Jesus rather points out: ” whenever you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you. -Matthew 6:6
