In the Bible, having many children is a blessing from God. But now a days, if a couple has more than a couple of children, people would say,”haven’t you heard of birth control?” Babies are seen as a frightful invasion and to be halted. Babies in reality could be seen as an invasion, all right! They’re an invasion of love into our selfishness, joy into our dullness, purpose into our aimlessness, wonder into our boredom. Ultimately, they’re an invasion of life to carry on after we die and they’re God’s invasion of blessing and promise as well.
If we think in this manner, why then such a wonderful invasion scared us? Perhaps we’re scared of babies because we’re scared of God who creates them. You know, babies have a mind of their own, and so does God. Babies make demands on our time and energy,
and so does God. Babies aren’t convenient, and neither is God. Both are bothersome. That’s why we don’t want too many babies, and we don’t want too much of God to control our lives too, right?
Friends, the best way to reduce our burdens and stresses is not on the children but to have more of God. Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke on you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in
heart, and you will find rest for your souls. -For my yoke is easy to bear, and my load is not hard to carry.” -Matthew 11:28-30
The Lord builds the home and will give abundant rest to those He loves!
